Who is Bridge House Best For?
Bridge House is particularly strong for adult groups and families with older children. Three bedrooms have their own bathroom facilities and the fourth has the family bathroom close by, giving couples and different parts of the group much more privacy than in many properties sleeping eight.
The two king-size bedrooms work naturally for couples, while the fourth bedroom provides a single bed with a second full-width pull-out truckle bed. The super king principal bedroom gives another generous double room.
Groups who enjoy eating out should appreciate the central Dartmouth location. Rather than driving into town for an evening meal, guests can walk to the waterfront, pubs and restaurants and return to Bridge House afterwards.
Families with very young children should consider the layout carefully. Children under five are not normally accommodated because of the balcony, open-tread staircase and absence of a stair gate.

Location & Things to Do Near Bridge House
Bridge House puts guests right in the heart of Dartmouth, allowing much of a South Devon holiday to be enjoyed without taking the car. Bayard's Cove, the embankment, independent shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants are all within easy walking distance, while boats and ferries provide another way to explore the surrounding area.
The River Dart is central to life in the town. Harbour cruises leave Dartmouth for trips along the lower Dart and upriver towards Totnes, while the passenger and vehicle ferries cross to Kingswear throughout the day. From Kingswear, the Dartmouth Steam Railway follows the river and coast towards Paignton, giving families an excellent full-day outing without relying on the road.
Walkers can join the South West Coast Path directly from Dartmouth. A particularly rewarding route follows the river towards Warfleet Creek, Gallants Bower and Dartmouth Castle, with woodland, historic fortifications and superb estuary views along the way. Continue beyond the castle for more demanding coastal walking towards Little Dartmouth.
Dartmouth itself deserves plenty of time. The historic streets around the waterfront are filled with independent shops and places to eat, while families often gather along the embankment for crabbing. Dartmouth Castle guards the entrance to the estuary and provides an interesting combination of maritime history and coastal scenery.
For a beach day, Blackpool Sands is around four miles away, backed by wooded hills and known for its clear water. Further along Start Bay, Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley combine a long coastline with wildlife and Second World War history.
Across the river, walkers can explore Kingswear, Froward Point and Coleton Fishacre, while Greenway, Agatha Christie's former holiday home, can be reached by boat and ferry connections around the Dart. This combination of town, river, coast and countryside gives a group staying at Bridge House an exceptional range of days out without travelling far.
