Overview of Greenwood
Greenwood is a spacious and contemporary holiday home sleeping up to eight in Brockenhurst, one of the best placed villages for exploring the New Forest. Its combination of generous living accommodation and a central village location works particularly well for families who want the forest close by without giving up the convenience of shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants and public transport. See all of our large holiday homes that sleep 8 or more in Brockenhurst here.
The sleeping arrangement is designed for a maximum of six adults and two children. Three conventional double bedrooms accommodate the adults, while a set of bunk beds within the principal king bedroom provides the additional two children's spaces. This makes Greenwood particularly suitable for a family or multi-generational group rather than four adult couples.
Downstairs, there is an impressive choice of social areas. The garden lounge has bi-fold doors opening towards the patio, a distinctive 180-degree wood burner and room for games and relaxed meals. A separate snug adds another wood burner and television, giving adults and children the option to enjoy different spaces.
The extended kitchen diner is another highlight. Floor-to-ceiling glazing overlooks the garden and pond, while a dining table seating eight provides a natural place for the entire group to gather.
Brockenhurst railway station is around five minutes away on foot and provides direct connections towards Lymington, Bournemouth, Southampton and London. Combined with local cycle hire and excellent walking routes from the village, Greenwood is one of those large New Forest holiday homes where the car can stay parked for much of the holiday.

Who is Greenwood Best For?
Greenwood is primarily suited to family and multi-generational holidays because of its unusual sleeping arrangement. Six adults can use the two king bedrooms and double bedroom, while the final two guests sleep in children's bunk beds within the principal bedroom.
That can work particularly well for grandparents travelling with a family, or two families where two younger children are happy to share their parents' bedroom.
The two separate living rooms are another major advantage for a mixed-age group. Children or teenagers can watch television in the snug while other guests use the garden lounge, rather than all eight people relying on one sitting room.
It is also a strong choice for groups planning to explore the New Forest without driving every day. The railway station, bike hire, village shops and places to eat are all accessible on foot.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms at Greenwood

A further set of bunk beds is positioned within the principal bedroom and is specifically intended for children, taking the total occupancy to eight.
Group Accommodation Layout
| Bedroom | Sleeping Arrangement | Bathroom |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom 1 | 5ft king-size bed plus children's bunk beds | Access to bathroom and shower room |
| Bedroom 2 | 5ft king-size bed | Jack and Jill bathroom |
| Bedroom 3 | 4ft 6in double bed | Shared bathroom facilities |
Bedroom 1 is the largest family bedroom and combines a 5ft king-size bed with a set of bunk beds suitable for children. It also has storage, a television and DVD player and access to both bathroom areas.
Bedroom 2 has another 5ft king-size bed, generous built-in wardrobes and direct access to the Jack and Jill bathroom.
Bedroom 3 has a 4ft 6in double bed, storage, television and DVD player.
How does the layout work for a group of 8?
The most natural arrangement is for a family group containing six adults and two children. The two king bedrooms and double provide three adult sleeping rooms, while the children use the bunks within the principal bedroom.
For a multi-generational family, grandparents could take one king bedroom while parents and children use the family room containing the second king and bunks.
The arrangement also works for two families where one family has two younger children happy to sleep in the same room as their parents.
Groups requiring four separate bedrooms should choose a different property, as Greenwood's eight-person capacity is achieved within three bedrooms.
Bathroom Layout
There are two stylish first-floor bathroom areas, designed with Jack and Jill locking arrangements so they can function privately from bedrooms or as shared family facilities.
One bathroom includes a bath with power shower over, touch-control fittings, WC, basin, heated towel rail and illuminated mirror.
The separate shower room has a walk-in shower with touch controls, WC, basin, heated towel rail and illuminated mirror.
There is also a separate cloakroom with WC and basin on the ground floor.
Facilities & Information at Greenwood
Greenwood offers several strong social spaces rather than relying on a single lounge. The garden room has comfortable seating, underfloor heating and a striking three-sided wood-burning stove. Double-aspect bi-fold doors bring in plenty of light and open towards the garden, while a dining table seating six and a collection of games make the room useful throughout the day.
The separate snug has another wood burner, comfortable seating, Smart TV with streaming services, DVD player and a collection of films. This second room is particularly useful when children and adults want different entertainment.
The extended kitchen diner is bright and contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden and pond. Cooking facilities include a range cooker with two fan ovens and grill, five-zone induction hob, American-style fridge freezer with ice and water dispenser, separate drinks fridge, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. The main dining table seats eight.
A utility room contains the washing machine and provides additional practical space for outdoor clothing. Bicycles can be stored in the lockable summer house or on the garden bike rack.
Outside, the secluded garden wraps around the rear and side of the house. A patio provides outdoor seating, while planting, lighting and the garden pond create an attractive setting for summer evenings.

Location & Things to Do Near Greenwood
Brockenhurst is one of the most convenient places to stay in the New Forest, combining a proper village centre and mainline railway station with woodland, heath and cycling routes close at hand. Ponies and donkeys regularly wander through the village, so the distinctive New Forest landscape and its free-roaming livestock remain part of everyday life even though shops, cafés and pubs are within walking distance.
A five-mile circular walking route from Brockenhurst station crosses grazed lawns, riverside woodland and heath around Ober Water before returning through the village. It is an excellent introduction to the varied landscapes surrounding Greenwood and can be joined without planning a drive to another part of the National Park.
Cyclists have even more scope. More than 100 miles of waymarked family-friendly cycle tracks run through the New Forest, many of them off road. Bikes can be hired in Brockenhurst, and a 10.9-mile circular route links the village with Lyndhurst using predominantly gravel forest tracks.
Lymington is particularly easy to visit because trains run directly from Brockenhurst. The Georgian market town has independent shops, restaurants, a busy Saturday market, marinas and a waterfront where sailing boats and fishing vessels come and go. Milford on Sea provides the nearest straightforward beach day at around eight miles from Greenwood.
Beaulieu offers one of the area's major family attractions, combining the National Motor Museum with Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey. Bolderwood is another worthwhile forest outing for woodland walking and the deer viewing area.
Greenwood is also around half a mile from Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club, giving golfers another activity close to home. With Brockenhurst station only a short walk away, the group can even reach Bournemouth's sandy beaches without taking the car.
