Overview of Sea Haven House

Sea Haven House is a bright and spacious holiday home in Thurlestone, tucked away on a private road close to the Mead estate and within walking distance of the village, golf course and coast. Sleeping up to ten guests, it stands out for having all four bedrooms on the ground floor, each with either an en-suite or bathroom nearby. See more cottages sleeping 10 or more in Thurlestone here.

That layout makes the property particularly attractive to multi-generational families and groups where some guests would rather avoid stairs. A sloping path leads from the gated parking area to the house, while the main living accommodation and bedrooms remain together on one level.

The main open-plan room is designed around the sea view, with large sofas, an 85-inch television, log burner and floor-to-ceiling glazing opening onto the terrace. The dining table provides space for the whole group, while the kitchen has generous preparation areas and plenty of cooking equipment for family meals.

A second sitting room gives the group another substantial social space, complete with a large Smart TV, Sky Sports and Movies, Xbox, Sonos speakers and two single sofa beds. This works particularly well for children and teenagers or as additional sleeping space when the house is occupied by ten.

Outside, the terrace runs across the width of the house and overlooks an enclosed lawn. Guests can also access the adjoining Old Rectory Gardens, providing another peaceful route through mature planting towards the hotel, village facilities, golf club and coast.

For families and friends looking for a large coastal property with flexible accommodation, good accessibility and plenty to enjoy without driving every day, Sea Haven House is particularly well placed.

With two dogs welcome, a nearby pub, beaches within walking distance and extensive entertainment at the house, it also works well for families who want an easy holiday without organising a full itinerary every day.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms at Sea Haven House

All four bedrooms at Sea Haven House are on the ground floor, making the layout particularly straightforward for a mixed-age group.

The permanent bedrooms sleep eight guests, while two additional single sofa beds in the second sitting room increase total capacity to ten.

Group Accommodation Layout

Bedroom Sleeping Arrangement Bathroom
Bedroom 1 6ft super king-size bed Ensuite shower room
Bedroom 2 Two 3ft single beds Family bathroom and wet room nearby
Bedroom 3 Two 3ft single beds Ensuite shower room
Bedroom 4 5ft king-size bed Ensuite shower room
Sitting Room 2 single sofa beds Wet room nearby

Bedroom 2 also opens onto the terrace and has the family bathroom close by, together with an additional wet room.

Bedroom 4 has patio doors leading outside, while Bedroom 3 has its own private shower room.

How does the layout work for a group of 10?

Two couples can take the super king and king bedrooms, while the two twin rooms provide four separate beds for children, teenagers or friends.

For multi-generational families, the single-level arrangement makes it easier to keep everyone close together while still giving most bedrooms their own private bathroom facilities.

Bathroom Layout

  • Ensuite shower room to Bedroom 1
  • Family bathroom with roll-top bath and hand-held shower

Location & Things to Do Near Sea Haven House

Sea Haven House is in Thurlestone, one of the South Hams' most appealing coastal villages, with sandy beaches, golf, village facilities and the South West Coast Path all close enough to enjoy without spending much of the holiday in the car.

South Milton Sands is one of the area's biggest attractions. The National Trust beach has a long sweep of golden sand, rock pools and clear water, with the distinctive arch of Thurlestone Rock just offshore. It is a good place for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and rock-pooling, while the coast path runs directly through the site.

Thurlestone itself has a village shop, pub and hotel within walking distance of the house. The hotel offers dining and leisure facilities, while the village gives groups enough everyday convenience to avoid driving into Kingsbridge for every small purchase.

Golfers are particularly well placed. Thurlestone Golf Club occupies a dramatic coastal setting between Thurlestone and Bantham, with the course opening up long sea views across Bigbury Bay.

Bantham is one of the best-known surf beaches in South Devon, with a broad sandy shoreline and the River Avon alongside. Hope Cove lies in the opposite direction and has two beaches, pubs and cafés clustered around the old fishing village.

The South West Coast Path links these places together, with some steep but rewarding stretches between Thurlestone, South Milton Sands, Hope Cove and Bantham.

Kingsbridge is approximately four miles away for supermarkets, independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Salcombe is around seven miles from the house and offers sailing, boat trips, shopping and waterfront dining around its estuary.
