Location & Things to Do Near Fiferail
Fiferail sits in Thurlestone, one of the South Hams' most attractive coastal villages. Its location makes it easy to combine beach days, walking and golf without spending much of the holiday in the car.
Several sandy beaches lie close to the village. Thurlestone Sands and Leas Foot provide sheltered places for swimming and family beach days, while South Milton Sands stretches along the coast beneath the distinctive arch of Thurlestone Rock. Rock pools, paddleboarding and kayaking add plenty of variety around the bay.
The South West Coast Path runs close to the house and gives walkers excellent options in both directions. Head west towards Bantham for wide views across Bigbury Bay and the Avon Estuary, or follow the coast east towards Hope Cove and Bolt Tail.
Thurlestone Golf Club is only around a quarter of a mile away and occupies a superb clifftop and links-style position overlooking the sea. Keen golfers can therefore walk to the course from the house rather than organising cars for every round.
Bantham is particularly popular with surfers and families, while Hope Cove offers two beaches, pubs and cafés in a former fishing village setting.
Kingsbridge is around five miles away and provides supermarkets, independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Salcombe is a similar distance in the opposite direction, with a busy harbour, sailing, boat hire and passenger ferries across to the beaches of East Portlemouth.
For guests staying at Fiferail, the strength of the location is how many different South Devon experiences can be enjoyed within a relatively small area.
