Overview of Higher Sutton
Higher Sutton is a handsome 17th-century farmhouse tucked away in the small rural hamlet of Sutton, just outside South Milton. Surrounded by working farmland but set within its own gardens, it offers families and friends a peaceful countryside base while keeping some of the South Hams' best beaches and coastal walks close at hand.
Sleeping 11 across five bedrooms, the house has plenty of room for a larger group to settle in comfortably. The main sitting room has exposed beams, slate floors and a log burner, while a second lounge adds another substantial place to relax, complete with its own wood burner, large Smart TV and table football.
The farmhouse kitchen and dining room is the heart of the house, with a large table for family meals and French doors opening onto the patio. An Aga is used during the winter months, adding to the traditional farmhouse feel.
One of Higher Sutton's strongest features is the separate games barn across the cobbled courtyard. Pool, table tennis and darts give children, teenagers and adults somewhere to spend time when the group is staying at home, while the mature gardens provide plenty of outdoor space in better weather.
The location brings together countryside and coast particularly well. A path leads away from the property towards Thurlestone Beach, while the South West Coast Path is less than a mile away. South Milton Sands, Bantham, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge and Salcombe are all within easy reach.
For large families and friends who want character, space and something for different generations to enjoy, Higher Sutton makes an excellent South Devon base.
