Overview of Wicket View
Wicket View is a beautifully presented holiday home in West Alvington, a small village on the edge of Kingsbridge. Sleeping eight across four bedrooms, it combines the character of a traditional cottage with a bright modern interior and a particularly good range of facilities for families. For a wider selection, view all of our Kingsbridge large holiday cottages here.
The games room is one of its biggest attractions. Set in the separate annexe, it has table tennis, table football, a children's play kitchen and plenty of toys, giving younger guests somewhere of their own even when the weather keeps everyone indoors. Above it is a private king-size bedroom with its own shower room, which works particularly well for grandparents or another couple travelling with the main group.
Inside the cottage, the large kitchen and dining room opens directly onto the south-facing terrace and garden. A separate lounge provides a comfortable place to relax around the wood burner, while the first-floor bedrooms enjoy attractive views across the surrounding South Devon countryside.
The garden has been designed with family holidays in mind. Outdoor dining for eight sits immediately outside the house, with steps leading to a lawn and a children's slide back down towards the terrace.
West Alvington gives guests a quieter village base while keeping Kingsbridge close enough to reach on foot. Salcombe, Hope Cove, Thurlestone, Bantham and South Milton Sands are all within an easy drive, creating plenty of choice for beach days, watersports and coastal walks.
For families looking for a large cottage with a games room, plenty of parking and a central South Hams location, Wicket View is an excellent all-round choice.

Location & Things to Do Near Wicket View
Wicket View is in West Alvington on the western edge of Kingsbridge, giving guests a quieter village setting with one of the South Hams' main towns within walking distance. It is a particularly useful location for groups who want to explore several different stretches of the South Devon coast rather than base the entire holiday around one beach.
Kingsbridge sits at the head of its tidal estuary and has a good mix of independent shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and weekly markets. The quay is a popular starting point for kayaking and paddleboarding, while seasonal passenger ferries travel down the estuary to Salcombe. The ferry journey itself is a worthwhile day out, passing creeks, countryside and sailing boats before arriving in the harbour.
Salcombe is approximately 4.5 miles away and offers waterfront shopping, sailing, boat trips and access to beaches including North Sands and South Sands. Passenger ferries also cross to East Portlemouth and the sandy coves on the opposite side of the estuary.
Hope Cove and Thurlestone are both around four miles away. Hope Cove has two beaches and a choice of places to eat, while Thurlestone gives access to several beaches, the South West Coast Path and its spectacular coastal golf course.
Bantham and South Milton Sands provide further excellent beach options. Bantham is particularly popular for surfing, while South Milton Sands has rock pools, clear water and views towards Thurlestone Rock.
For a family day away from the coast, Woodlands Family Theme Park has indoor and outdoor attractions, while Dartmouth, Totnes and the wider South Hams countryside are all straightforward day trips.
