Location & Things to Do Near Talland 17

Talland 17 sits in Talland Bay on the South Cornwall coast, between the fishing villages of Polperro and Looe. It is an excellent setting for groups who want quieter beaches and countryside around them while still having two lively harbour towns within easy reach.

Talland Bay has two small sheltered coves, Talland Sand and Rotterdam Beach. The beaches sit only a few hundred yards apart and are particularly enjoyable at lower tides, when there is more sand and plenty of rock pools to explore. The sheltered water also makes the bay popular for swimming, fishing and kayaking.

The South West Coast Path runs directly through Talland Bay. One of the best walks heads west towards Polperro, approximately 1.5 miles away. The path crosses an attractive stretch of cliff and countryside before descending towards the village's harbour.

Polperro is well worth exploring on foot. Its narrow lanes are largely free of traffic and lead between whitewashed cottages, galleries, independent shops, pubs and restaurants towards the historic fishing harbour.

Heading east on the coast path takes walkers towards Looe. The town has a sandy beach, working fishing harbour, shops and a good choice of places to eat. Boat trips run from the harbour, including fishing trips and wildlife cruises around the coast and towards Looe Island.

For a quieter beach day, Lansallos lies farther west and can be combined with another excellent stretch of coast path. Seaton and Downderry provide longer beaches to the east.

Major Cornwall attractions are also within reach. The Eden Project makes an excellent all-weather day out, while the Lost Gardens of Heligan combine extensive gardens, woodland and historic estate landscapes.
