Overview of Bow Bridge House & Cottages

Bow Bridge House & Cottages provides flexible large group accommodation beside the River Harbourne near Ashprington and Totnes in South Devon. The main property is a Grade II listed house sleeping eight, which can be combined with neighbouring 3 Bow to accommodate ten, with 2 Bow to sleep twelve or with both cottages for a maximum group of fourteen. View our full selection of large holiday homes near Totnes here.

This arrangement is particularly useful for several families or generations travelling together. Bow Bridge House provides the principal communal areas, including two sitting rooms, a large kitchen and a sunroom dining area. The neighbouring cottages add their own bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces, giving different parts of the group some independence without staying in completely separate locations.

The main house has one of the most distinctive gardens among the properties we have covered so far. A large enclosed garden runs beside the river, with mature planting, a summer house, small island, paved terrace, hot tub and outdoor dining area. A Canadian canoe is also provided for use on the river, subject to the property's safety conditions and completion of a disclaimer.

Three country pubs are within approximately half a mile, including The Watermans Arms just 100 metres away. Totnes is approximately three miles from the property, while Dittisham, Dartmouth and several South Devon beaches can all be reached by car.

Who is Bow Bridge House & Cottages Best For?

The main house gives everyone a natural place to gather, while the neighbouring cottages provide separate kitchens, lounges and bathrooms when members of the group want more privacy.

It is also unusually flexible for group size. A party of ten does not have to pay for accommodation designed for fourteen, while larger parties can add one or both cottages. That makes the property particularly useful for family gatherings where numbers can vary.

Is all of the accommodation in one house?

No. The maximum fourteen-person booking combines Bow Bridge House with neighbouring 2 Bow and 3 Bow. Each cottage has its own bedrooms and living facilities.

Does Bow Bridge House have a hot tub?

Yes. A large hot tub sits on the rear patio of the main house overlooking the garden.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms at Bow Bridge House & Cottages

The maximum fourteen-person arrangement provides seven bedrooms spread across three properties. This is a straightforward permanent-bed layout with no need to convert lounges into sleeping accommodation.

Group Accommodation Layout

Accommodation Sleeps Bedrooms Bedroom Arrangement
Bow Bridge House 8 4 Super-king, king-size and 2 twin rooms
2 Bow 4 2 Super-king and twin room
3 Bow 2 1 King-size bedroom
Total 14 7 Permanent beds for all 14 guests

How does the layout work for a large group?

Bow Bridge House itself accommodates eight guests. Its four first-floor bedrooms consist of a super-king room, a king-size room and two standard twin bedrooms.

2 Bow adds another four guests in two bedrooms: one super-king and one twin. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom facilities.

3 Bow is a one-bedroom cottage for two with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom.

The full fourteen-person arrangement therefore works well for adult groups as well as families because every guest has a conventional permanent bed. The separate cottages can also suit grandparents, another family or couples who want more privacy while still being part of the main group.

Bathroom Layout

Bow Bridge House has two en-suite shower rooms and a family bathroom.

2 Bow has an en-suite bathroom or shower room for each of its two bedrooms.

3 Bow has an en-suite bathroom.

That gives the combined fourteen-person arrangement six bathroom or shower facilities across the three properties, based on the detailed individual accommodation descriptions.

Have You Stayed at Bow Bridge House & Cottages?

If you've stayed at Bow Bridge House with one or both neighbouring cottages, share your experience to help other families and larger groups decide whether this South Devon riverside accommodation is right for their stay.

The important point for the database is that I would not create a Large Cottages entry called simply “Bow Bridge House” with a capacity of eight. I would index the qualifying combined accommodation as Bow Bridge House & Cottages, with 14 as the maximum capacity and clearly explain the 10, 12 and 14-person combinations. This protects the site's core promise that every listed option can accommodate at least ten people.
