Overview of Bow Bridge House
Bow Bridge House is a striking Grade II listed holiday home sleeping eight beside the River Harbourne in the South Devon countryside near Ashprington and Totnes. Its combination of period character, contemporary additions and an exceptional riverside garden makes it considerably more than a base for exploring the South Hams. See all of our large cottages for groups near Totnes here.
The outdoor setting is one of its strongest attractions. Mature gardens extend alongside the shallow river and include a small island, summer house and quiet corners away from the main terrace. Guests can paddle in the water, take the Canadian canoe for a trip along the river or settle into the private hot tub after a day exploring. A large terrace with a Big Green Egg barbecue provides another natural gathering place for the group.
Inside, the house has several distinct social spaces. The traditional main sitting room and separate snug both have log burners, while the architect-designed sunroom brings light into the dining end of the house and opens directly towards the garden. This choice of rooms works particularly well when eight guests are staying.
Four bedrooms are arranged upstairs, including a super king principal bedroom, a king and two twins. Both double bedrooms have their own shower rooms, with a family bathroom serving the twin rooms.
Bow Bridge sits between Totnes and the villages around Bow Creek and the Dart. Three country pubs are within roughly half a mile, while Dittisham, Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands and the wider South Devon coast are easy to reach. For groups wanting a large holiday home where the property itself is a major part of the break, Bow Bridge House has a particularly strong combination of space, setting and facilities.
