Overview of Dell Cottage

Dell Cottage occupies an exceptional position in a forest clearing at Bank, just outside Lyndhurst in the heart of the New Forest. Deer and ponies can be seen around the surrounding forest, while woodland and heathland stretch away from the property on three sides. For families wanting to experience the National Park from the moment they step outside, the setting is difficult to beat. See more large holiday homes around Lyndhurst here.

The detached cottage sleeps up to eight, although occupancy is limited to a maximum of six adults and two children. Three main bedrooms are complemented by two narrow children's beds that can be added on request, making the house particularly suitable for families and multi-generational groups rather than eight adults.

Inside, there is plenty of room for everyone to gather. A comfortable sitting room has a wood burner and large forest-facing bay window, while the spacious kitchen diner seats eight and opens onto the terrace. A separate study provides another useful room for reading, working or enjoying a quieter moment.

Outside is where Dell Cottage becomes particularly distinctive. The large mature garden includes lawns, a stream, terrace, fire pit, hammock, swings and a natural wood-fired Nordic hot tub tucked beside the water. Keen cooks can make use of an outdoor pizza oven, grill, smoker and Argentinian-style cage fire.

The Oak Inn is around five minutes away on foot, Lyndhurst is approximately 1.5 miles away and walking and cycling can begin directly from the cottage. Dell Cottage combines the privacy of a rural retreat with excellent access to the wider New Forest, making it an appealing large holiday home for an active family break.

Who is Dell Cottage Best For?

Dell Cottage works particularly well for a family group where children form part of the eight-person occupancy. The three permanent bedrooms accommodate six guests, while two narrow single beds can be added for children.

A multi-generational family could use the king and double bedrooms for adults while children use the third double bedroom and additional children's beds. Alternatively, two families sharing can divide the bedrooms according to the ages of the children.

The property is also an excellent choice for walkers and cyclists. Forest trails begin virtually outside the gate, bicycles can be stored at the property and there is no need to drive before enjoying the New Forest landscape.

Groups who like spending their evenings at their holiday home should find plenty here too. The wood-fired tub, extensive outdoor cooking equipment, fire pit and large garden make Dell Cottage as appealing after a day out as it is as a base for exploring.

Group Accommodation Layout

Bedroom Sleeping Arrangement Bathroom
Bedroom 1 Double bed En-suite shower room
Bedroom 2 King-size bed Family bathroom
Bedroom 3 Double bed Family bathroom
Additional Children's Beds Two narrow 2ft 6in single beds available on request Family or ground-floor bathroom

Bedroom 1 has a 4ft 6in double bed, storage and its own shower room. There is also space for a cot or one of the additional children's beds.

Bedroom 2 is a large room with a 5ft king-size bed, wardrobe and seating. French doors open onto a small balcony looking towards the forest. This room can also accommodate a cot or additional narrow children's bed.

Bedroom 3 has a 4ft 6in double bed, built-in wardrobe and dual-aspect views over the surrounding forest.
