Overview of Double Gates
Double Gates is a large detached holiday home sleeping eight in Hope Cove, one of South Devon's best-loved coastal villages. Set slightly back from the waterfront, it combines a peaceful setting and generous enclosed garden with easy access to the village's two sandy beaches, places to eat and South West Coast Path, view more Hope Cove large cottages here.
One of the property's main strengths is the amount of communal space. Alongside the main lounge is a separate snug with Smart TV and a conservatory adjoining the kitchen, giving different generations or two families plenty of choice about where to relax. The kitchen also has an informal dining table, while the conservatory provides another place for meals overlooking the garden.
The bedroom arrangement is equally useful for a mixed group. A super king bedroom with private shower room is on the ground floor. Two twin bedrooms occupy the lower-ground level alongside another shower room, while the top floor has a double bedroom with views towards the sea and its own nearby bathroom.
Outside, Double Gates has a large enclosed garden with a generous patio, outdoor furniture and barbecue. A second patio and lawn create another place to sit away from the main terrace, while private parking for two or three cars makes arrivals straightforward.
Hope Cove's beaches are approximately half a mile away, allowing guests to walk down for swimming, paddleboarding, rock pooling or an evening meal without needing to move the car. For groups looking for a large Hope Cove cottage with flexible accommodation and plenty of family space, Double Gates is particularly well suited.

Who is Double Gates Best For?
Double Gates is particularly well suited to two families because its bedroom arrangement separates the sleeping accommodation across three levels.
The ground-floor super king bedroom has its own shower room and works well for parents, grandparents or guests who prefer their bedroom on the same level as the kitchen and principal living spaces.
Two lower-ground twin bedrooms provide four separate beds, making them natural choices for children, teenagers or friends, while the top-floor double gives another couple their own part of the house.
The lounge, snug and conservatory also mean that eight guests do not need to spend every evening in a single room. Children can watch television in the snug while adults use the lounge or conservatory, yet there is still enough shared space for the group to come together.

Location & Things to Do Near Double Gates
Double Gates is close to the centre of Hope Cove, a traditional South Devon fishing village formed around Inner Hope and Outer Hope. Its two sandy beaches give families an easy choice for days by the sea, with swimming, paddleboarding, rock pooling and bodyboarding all popular in the sheltered bay.
Mouthwell Sands at Outer Hope is particularly popular with families and watersports enthusiasts, while the more sheltered Inner Hope beach has gently shelving sand and a relaxed harbour setting. Both have the advantage of village facilities nearby, so it is easy to combine time on the beach with lunch, drinks or an ice cream.
The South West Coast Path runs directly through Hope Cove and provides some of the finest walking in this part of the South Hams. Heading east, walkers can climb towards Bolt Tail and continue across Bolberry Down, where high cliffs provide extensive views along the coastline. A circular walk taking in Hope Cove, Bolt Tail and Bolberry Down covers around five miles and makes a good half-day outing.
Walk west and the path leads towards South Milton Sands and Thurlestone. South Milton has a long sweep of sand, rock pools and sheltered water suitable for paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming, with the distinctive Thurlestone Rock just offshore.
Thurlestone itself adds further beaches and coastal golf, while Bantham is one of South Devon's best-known surfing beaches. In the opposite direction, Salcombe provides harbour life, independent shops, restaurants, sailing and passenger ferries across the estuary.
For a full group staying at Double Gates, the real advantage is how much can be enjoyed without a long drive. Beaches, food, coastal walking and village life are all close by, with some of the wider South Hams' best-known destinations available for easy day trips.
