Overview of Clovelly Cottage

Clovelly Cottage is a spacious family holiday home on the outskirts of Crantock, one of North Cornwall's most appealing coastal villages. Sleeping eight across four bedrooms, it gives families and friends plenty of room to settle in while keeping the beach, village pubs, shops and coastal paths within easy walking distance. View our full selection of large holiday cottages in Crantock here.

The location is one of the biggest reasons to choose it. Crantock Beach is around ten minutes away on foot, with the River Gannel meeting the sea beside the broad sweep of sand. The village centre is even closer, putting pubs, tea gardens and everyday shops only a few minutes from the house.

Inside, the layout is practical and family friendly. The main sitting room has enough seating for the whole group and opens directly onto the rear garden, while the separate dining room provides another place to gather for meals and evenings together.

One bedroom is on the ground floor and has its own small ensuite shower room, which can be useful for grandparents or guests who would prefer to avoid stairs. Upstairs, a further double, a twin and a family-style room with both a double and single bed provide flexible sleeping for couples and children.

The enclosed garden adds another useful space, while the lockable garage gives surfers, cyclists and beach-going families somewhere secure to store boards, bikes and equipment. A heated changing room is particularly handy after days on the sand.

For groups wanting an easy North Cornwall beach holiday with village life and the coast close by, Clovelly Cottage makes a very convenient base.

Location & Things to Do Near Clovelly Cottage

Clovelly Cottage sits on the edge of Crantock, a relaxed North Cornwall village just west of Newquay. The setting works especially well for families because the beach, pubs, shops and coast path are all close enough to reach on foot.

Crantock Beach is the main attraction. The broad sandy bay is backed by dunes and sits beside the River Gannel, creating a varied coastal landscape with beach, estuary and headland all in one place. Swimming, bodyboarding and surfing are popular, with seasonal tuition and equipment hire available locally.

The South West Coast Path runs through the area and gives walkers several excellent options. Head west from Crantock towards West Pentire and Porth Joke, also known as Polly Joke, for a quieter stretch of coast. In late spring and early summer, the surrounding fields are particularly well known for displays of wildflowers.

Continue farther and the coastline reaches Holywell Bay, another broad sandy beach backed by dunes. In the opposite direction, routes around the Gannel provide changing views across the estuary towards Newquay.

Newquay itself is only around three miles away and offers a much livelier day out, with beaches, shops, restaurants and family attractions. Fistral Beach is particularly popular with surfers, while the town also provides plenty of choice for wet-weather days.

For something away from the coast, Trerice is a short drive inland. The National Trust Elizabethan manor has period interiors, formal gardens and a café, making it a useful change of pace from the beach.

Perranporth is also within easy reach for another long sandy beach and coastal walking, while Truro provides a larger choice of shops, restaurants and cultural attractions.
