Overview of Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable

Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable is a lovely choice for families and groups who want to share a Cornish holiday without all staying under one roof. The two detached properties stand side by side in the peaceful Glynn Valley near St Neot, sharing almost an acre of gardens that lead down to a private stretch of the River Loveny. The property is situated almost midway between Liskeard and Bodmin and you can find more large holiday cottages near Bodmin here.

The Lodge is the larger of the two and brings plenty of traditional character to the stay, with Gothic windows, arched doorways, exposed beams and wood burners. The Stable has been converted into a comfortable second cottage with its own kitchen, lounge and bedrooms. Together they sleep 12, giving two families or different generations the freedom to enjoy their own space while remaining only a few steps apart.

The setting is a real highlight. Guests can spend quiet mornings beside the river, try fishing from the private bank or enjoy meals in the garden, with wooded valleys and Bodmin Moor close by for walking and cycling. Carnglaze Caverns is less than a mile away, while Cardinham Woods and Lanhydrock offer excellent days out for walkers and cyclists.

The central South East Cornwall location also makes it easy to explore farther afield. Looe, Polperro and Fowey are all within reach for harbour walks and coastal days, while the Eden Project and Cornwall's north coast can be added to a longer stay.

For groups who value character, countryside and the flexibility of two separate homes, Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable offers a relaxed base with plenty to enjoy both at the property and across Cornwall.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms at Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable

The six bedrooms are divided between the two properties, with four in the Lodge and two in the Stable.

The Lodge sleeps eight in permanent beds, while the Stable sleeps four adults comfortably with additional sleeping space available by arrangement.

Group Accommodation Layout

Property Bedroom Sleeping Arrangement Bathroom
The Lodge Bedroom 1 Double bed Ensuite shower room
The Lodge Bedroom 2 Double bed Family bathroom nearby
The Lodge Bedroom 3 Double bed Family bathroom nearby
The Lodge Bedroom 4 Two single beds Family bathroom nearby
The Stable Bedroom 5 King-size bed Family bathroom and separate shower room
The Stable Bedroom 6 Two single beds Family bathroom and separate shower room

The Lodge also has a ground-floor double bedroom with its own shower room, which may suit guests who prefer to avoid using the main staircase.

The Stable's principal bedroom includes an adjoining room with a double sofa bed that can provide extra sleeping space when requested.

How does the layout work for a group of 12?

The strongest way to use the accommodation is to treat the two cottages as separate family bases.

The Lodge can accommodate up to eight guests across three doubles and one twin. The Stable works particularly well for four guests using the king-size and twin rooms, with the additional sofa bed offering further flexibility where required.

This setup gives larger groups far more privacy than a single six-bedroom house, especially when grandparents, adult children or two separate families are travelling together.

Bathroom Layout

The Lodge has an ensuite shower room and a family bathroom with both a bath and separate shower.

The Stable has a family bathroom with bath, a separate shower room and an additional cloakroom.

This gives both properties their own bathroom facilities, so neither household needs to move between cottages in the morning or evening.

Facilities & Information at Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable

The main advantage of the two-property layout is that each cottage is fully equipped for day-to-day living.

The Stable has a more contemporary kitchen with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, larder fridge and separate freezer. Its own sitting room and dining area allow guests staying there to be completely self-contained.

Outside, both properties share the large garden and riverbank. Garden furniture, a barbecue and summer house provide plenty of space for everyone to gather during warmer weather.
